This became a goal after reading the book A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson in May 2015. The idea of through hiking seemed really appealing to me. I've never had an adventure and have yearned for a outdoorsy experience. I began my research and happenstance learned of the PCT. I read Wild and some other accounts. My favorite so far was a blog by a young hiker full of tips. This is something I plan on doing in 2017. If not then then some time after my father passes away. Never too soon to start training.
Pacific Crest Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail (commonly referred to as the PCT, and occasionally designated as the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail) is a long-distance mountain hiking and equestrian trail closely aligned with the highest portion of the Sierra Nevada and Cascade Range, which lie 100 to 150 miles (160 to 240 km) east of the U.S. Pacific coast. The trail's southern terminus is on the U.S. border with Mexico, and its northern terminus is in British Columbia, Canada; its corridor through the U.S.
