Read a book by a female author
The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand
"Circe" by Madeline Miller
So in doing this goal, I am both avoiding reading reading another book by female authors I've already read and also deliberately favouring genres and subjects I don't habitually visit.
These are all on my "Want to Read" list at GoodReads but they're possibly outliers compared to my usual diet of light mysteries, music memoirs and criticism and music nonfiction in general, chick lit and Young Adult dystopian fiction.
Candidates:
Kristin Hannah
Alice Anderson
Amber Tamblyn
Gina Sheridan
Susan Jane Gilman
Christine Bernard
Kat Cho
Madeline Miller
Lisa Taddeo
8/8 UPDATE: I have placed a library hold on "The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah.
9/19 UPDATE: Reading "The Nightingale".

Murder Most Unladylike (A Wells & Wong Mystery) by Robin Stevens.
The Raven Boys - Maggie Steifvater
All the way through reading this book I felt as if Stiefvater had continuously thought "What would Imre like?" This book was perfect for me, and I'm so glad I decided to buy the series.
