ABOUT DELAWARE
Delaware is a U.S. state located on the Atlantic Coast in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. The state takes its name from Thomas West, 3rd Baron De La Warr, an English nobleman and Virginia's first colonial governor, after whom (what is now called) Cape Henlopen was originally named. Delaware is located in the northeastern portion of the Delmarva Peninsula and is the second smallest state in area.

The State Park Commission (now the Division of Parks and Recreation) began operating Delaware Seashore State Park in 1965.
Fort Christina (later renamed Fort Altena) was the first Swedish settlement in North America and the principal settlement of the New Sweden colony. Built in 1638 and named after Queen Christina of Sweden, it was located approximately 1 mi (1.6 km) east of the present downtown Wilmington, Delaware, at the confluence of the Brandywine Creek and the Christina River, approximately 2 mi (3 km) upstream from the mouth of the Christina on the Delaware River.

Brandywine Zoo is a zoo located in Brandywine Park in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. It is open seven days a week. The zoo was founded in 1905. It is managed by the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation with the support of the Delaware Zoological Society. The zoo is a member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.
New Castle Historic District is a site significant for its architecture from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. New Castle was founded by Peter Stuyvesant. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1967. The historic district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1967 and it was relisted, perhaps with expanded boundaries, in 1984.
