ABOUT WESTERN SAHARA
Western Sahara is a disputed territory in North Africa, bordered by Morocco to the north, Algeria to the northeast, Mauritania to the east and south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Its surface area amounts to 266,000 square kilometres (103,000 sq mi). It is one of the most sparsely populated territories in the world, mainly consisting of desert flatlands.

El-Aaiún, is a city in Western Sahara founded by the Spanish in 1928. Administered by Morocco since 1976, El-Aaiún is the capital of what the Moroccan government called the region of Laâyoune-Boujdour-Sakia El Hamra, and POLISARIO called Occupied Territories. It is also claimed by the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic as their capital.
El Aaiún, the largest city in Western Sahara, offers a unique blend of cultural and historical experiences. Visitors can explore the bustling markets where local crafts and goods are sold, or visit the Museum of the Resistance to learn about the region's history. For those interested in nature, the nearby sand dunes and Atlantic coastline provide opportunities for exploration and relaxation. The city's diverse culinary scene, featuring traditional Sahrawi dishes, adds to the experience, making El Aaiún a noteworthy destination for travelers.
Tarfaya (طرفاية) is a city (5615) on the southwestern coast of Morocco. It is a port town, which shares its name with the general lower region of Morocco. It was known as Villa Bens during Spanish colonization. In the 1920s, Aéropostale used a nearby airstrip. It has a monument to French aviator and author Antoine de Saint Exupéry.
Smara, also Semara, is a city in the Moroccan-Administered Western Sahara, with a population estimated at 42,056.
