United States citizens require a valid passport to enter Bali. The passport must be valid for six months after the arrival date and contain at least two blank pages, which the immigration officer stamps upon the visitor's arrival and departure. For tourists who won't be staying longer than 30 days, there's a visa-exempt, no-fee stamp

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that all travelers to Bali should receive hepatitis A and typhoid vaccinations. Visit an immunization clinic or physician four to six weeks before the departure date to receive the vaccinations. Some travelers may require additional vaccinations, depending on where they intend to travel. As of June 2010, the CDC strongly advises travelers visiting Bali to receive the rabies vaccination. Since December 2008, the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture has notified the World Health Organization for Animal Health of the outbreak of rabid dogs in Bali.
