IMDB to the rescue.
Technically I think that at the age I am now, approaching 43, I have probably viewed ten films made before I was born (in 1979) due to fact that I have watched many of the classics dating from that time, such as Star Wars or Godfather.
I might rewatch a few of them while completing this goal, although I think I am also going to try to watch the ones I have not seen already from this list. If they turn out to be films I have not seen for a reason and are not to my taste I can still post about that and dont need to finish watching them anyway.
A lot tropes, styles, film genres seem to have all been developed really rapidly in that era and moved away from the style of a lot of earlier films which were almost like stage shows adapted for the screen. At least that is what I think in my limited knowledge of the same, I'm not a film student but I definitely find it interesting, the interpretation involved in film studies definitely has parallels with the sort of interpretation in psychoanalysis, literary studies or similar thinking that appeals to me too.
Besides that, movies can just be amusement and pass the time too. Enjoyable quite apart from any message or meaning being imparted by directors, writers, performers etc.
